My First Responses

       Imediatly you get thrown into the life of the Walls family. After you get the first picture of what Jeanettes family is like, she tells you more about her parents, and some of the problems they face. My first responses are that these people are not very smart for having children and not being able to provide for them very well. And also that her dad is an alcholic. But actuly, theses people are very intelligent. They know how to dodge some of the problems that arise (which can be a bad thing, like when they run from the FBI). I like them because they teach their kids things that they will need in their lives. Their kids are smarter than most, and when they go to school (which they rarely do), they excell above the other students. I'm not really sure why the dad keeps moving the family around, and why he thinks that he is going to "find gold". He also said that one day he would build the Glass Castle. Im not sure what this means yet, but I think that it is forshadowing. I am hoping to find the answer later on in the book.
